Dream car sells in record breaking social media transaction

19th October 2016: Today next-generation social media platform Vero announced the sale of a historic Aston Martin DB5 with International car auctioneers Coys. Bought by a private collector for £825,000, the sale is the largest known in-app purchase ever and the first time a historic car has been bought directly from social media.

The Aston Martin is one of four cars listed for sale exclusively on Vero following Mondial de L’Automobile - the largest motor show in the world. Other cars offered for sale include an £800,000 Ferrari Daytona, a £400,000 Ferrari 246 Dino once owned by Peter Grant (Led Zeppelin’s manager), and a £295,000 Bentley S2 Continental coupe.

A private collector bought the DB5 with Apple Pay directly from the Coys profile on Vero (www.vero.co). This innovation not only marks evolution in classic car sales, but also heralds a new era for the luxury retail sector as Vero enables brands not only to engage people more meaningfully than other social platforms, but also to offer products for sale directly from their feed.

Chris Routledge, CEO of Coys, said: “We’re always looking for new ways to serve our global clients and Vero offers us the opportunity to present our cars in a beautifully designed environment and gives customers the ability to make an instant purchase direct from their iPhone without having to attend a car show in person or visit the showroom. We are delighted that the DB5 has found a home on Vero and look forward to growing the Coys community on Vero and to selling more cars this way.”

The partnership with Coys and the successful sale of the Aston Martin is just one of the ways that innovative social media platform Vero, is creating a new stream of engagement between brands and consumers. Its unique approach, which aims to emulate real life relationships, along with its Buy Now capabilities, opens up a world of possibilities for users using this next generation social network.

Ayman Hariri, Co-founder and CEO of Vero, said: “Classic cars set the pulse racing like few other things. We’re delighted that Coys have chosen Vero as the platform to express their love of classic cars. Coys remind us of the influence classic cars have on us through movies such as the Italian Job, Ronin, and of course, Bullitt. With Vero's unique Buy-Now feature, Coys is offering collectors a new way to purchase the cars they've always dreamed of owning.”
