AND A FALSE SENSE OF CONNECTION LEFT US LONELIER THAN EVER.
IN REAL LIFE, PEOPLE ARE NEVER PRESENTED WITH A ONE SIZE FITS ALL AUDIENCE. WE SHARE DIFFERENT THINGS WITH DIFFERENT PEOPLE.
MOST SOCIAL NETWORKS REDUCE EVERYONE TO A FRIEND OR A FOLLOWER. THIS ENCOURAGES US TO ONLY SHARE THE PARTS OF OUR LIVES WE THINK ARE THE MOST INTERESTING.
WHEN YOU CAN CONTROL WHO SEES WHAT, YOU CAN BEHAVE IN A WAY THAT IS MORE NATURAL, WHICH WE BELIEVE ENDS UP BEING BETTER FOR YOU.
So we decided to create something more authentic.
We created a social network that lets you be yourself. Hence the name Vero. Meaning Truth.

1. Our business model
Unlike most of our competitors, Vero’s business model isn’t based on serving advertisements. As a subscription-based service, our users are our customers, not the product we sell to advertisers.
Our subscription model will allow us to keep Vero advertising-free, and to focus solely on delivering the best social experience instead of trying to find new ways to monetize our users’ behavior or tricking them back into the app with notifications.
As promised, our first million users have access to Vero free for life.
However, given the service interruptions we experienced from the large wave of new users, we are extending that offer to all new users until further notice.
We will confirm the start date and pricing of Vero subscriptions soon. All our users, whether they pay a subscription or not, will be treated equally and have access to the same features and functions.
In addition to individual subscriptions, we charge a transaction fee to merchants when they sell via our "Buy Now" feature that allows creators and brands to sell products directly from posts.
We waive our fee on charitable donations or when using our “Donate Now” feature.
2. The Feed
The feed is composed of your posts and the posts of people you're either connected with or people you follow. We don't curate it, manipulate it, insert advertising in it, or hold back posts. You see what has been shared with you, when it's been shared with you.
You won’t have to pay to “boost your post”, or “reach your audience.”
3. The information we collect and how we use it
Vero only collects the data we believe is necessary to provide users with a great experience and to ensure the security of their accounts.
Information we collect about you when you register:
Your Phone Number
Like many social apps including WhatsApp, Vero requires an active phone number to create an account. We do this for three reasons:
The first reason is to authenticate your Vero account (generally speaking, phone numbers are harder to falsify than email addresses).
The second reason is so that users who have your phone number in their address book get an alert that you’ve joined Vero.
The third reason is so that users who have your number can send you a Connect Request even if you have turned Connect Requests off. This is great for people who don't want to receive Connect Requests from people they don't know, but do want their friends to still be able to connect with them.
Your Vero account is not tied to your phone number and we don’t attempt to detect when you’ve changed phones or SIM cards. We also collect other information you share with us such as your logs, for debugging purposes only, if you choose to share them with us.
We do not share your phone number with anyone nor is it visible to any other user.
Although we don’t force people to use their real names, we encourage people to present themselves as they do in real life. This makes it easier for people to find you. Your name is also used to identify you and to address you when communicating with you about your access to, or use of, Vero.
Your Email Address
Your email address is used as your unique log in. You can log in from multiple phones using the email address and password you used when registering.
Your email address is also used to identify you and to communicate with you when sending you service-generated emails (for example, account verification or password-recovery emails) or for other business and operational purposes related to Vero.
We do not share your email address with anyone nor is it visible to any other user.
Information we collect about you while you use the app
When you use Vero we use tools to monitor information about users' use of the app, such as the number of visits to Vero and the general health of the platform. We use this information to analyze how Vero is functioning and how it is used by our users, to help us maintain and improve Vero on an ongoing basis.
How else may we use the information we collect?
Information sharing and disclosure
Vero will only share your personal information in limited circumstances described below.
If you tell us you are happy for us to do so.
In order to comply with applicable law or legal obligations.
We may share information with our employees and authorized third-party providers for them to administer your account and any services provided to you through Vero
When placing an order for a "Buy Now" item or making a donation to a registered charity using "Donate Now", we may share personal information with the merchant and authorized third parties for the purpose of fulfilling your order, for fraud prevention and for the purposes of operating, managing and administering Vero's e-commerce functionality. Such third parties include, for example, providers of our customer service, hosting, payment facilities and other support services.
Data security measures
Vero is committed to protecting your data from unauthorized access, use or disclosure and use a variety of industry-standard encryption and data security technologies to do this. However, by using Vero you accept the inherent risks of providing information and dealing online and will not hold us responsible for any breach of security that is due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Location of Vero’s Servers
By using Vero you acknowledge and agree that Vero's servers are in the United Kingdom and consent to the transfer, processing and storage of your content in the United Kingdom.
4. Community Guidelines
Vero is a place where people from all over the world can come together to connect, create and share their passions. We want Vero to be somewhere everyone feels welcome and safe.
We ask all Vero users to adhere to a few simple rules.
Users found to be acting outside of our guidelines risk having their account suspended or deleted.
Please do not impersonate individuals, groups, or organizations. If you wish to run a fan, commentary, parody or newsfeed account on Vero we ask that you take steps to avoid misleading or confusing other users by making it clear (in your Vero account name and/or bio) that your account is unofficial.
No bots, no spam
Vero is for people, not bots.
Please do not use Vero’s services for the purpose of spamming anyone.
Posting personal information
Please do not post any personal information belonging to other users or third parties unless you have express permission from them.
Any content found to be encouraging violence, self-harm, hatred, or cruelty towards people or animals will be removed.
Other people’s content
Please do not post content to which you don't own the rights (unless you have the written permission of the copyright owner).
If you see content you think is inappropriate
We rely on our users to alert us to potentially inappropriate content. To report a post you see in your feed, just tap the ‘…’ in the bottom right hand corner and select “Report as Inappropriate” and we will investigate.
Hate and hate speech
Hate and hate speech have no home on Vero. We don’t tolerate it, and if we learn that any user is posting messages containing hate or hate speech, we will immediately remove them and shut down their accounts. We continuously monitor for this and have already removed accounts we’ve found. At Vero, the social network designed to build authentic connections with others, we believe in tolerance, diversity in all ways and free speech, but we draw a bright line when it comes to misusing our platform for hate.
5. Social media Addiction
As an advertising-free platform, we don't view addiction or "Time Spent" as a measure of success.
Whilst Vero is not designed to be addictive, we recognize that many people struggle to find a balance when using technology and we are proud to be the first social network to provide in-app Usage Info that shows you how much time you are spending on the platform.
